About the Chronicler

Meet Dennis E. Park, MA: website founder, photographer, and blogger
For as long as he can remember, Dennis has been fascinated with all things related to building and construction. He attributes the allure to genetics—his maternal grandfather was a builder. For many summers, Dennis found jobs in the building trades providing him valuable experience that he still uses around home and in his shop. He remembers visiting Loma Linda University as a college student as often as he could to catch a glimpse of the university hospital’s cloverleaf towers as they made their way skyward floor by floor.

Although construction was in his blood, for 42 years he worked at Loma Linda University in the areas of administration; financial management; and academics, teaching accounting and management to dietetic students. There, Dennis developed a deep interest in the history of the university and authored the book “The Mound City Chronicles: A Pictorial History of Loma Linda University, A Health Sciences Institution 1905 – 2005.”

Through the years, Dennis has photographically chronicled (first on film and now digitally) the growth of the campus. He documented the razing of Gentry Gym and the construction of the Centennial Complex located on the corner of Stewart and Anderson streets. Since employees and staff come and go, some of his photos have been used through the years to answer landscape questions, construction questions, street questions, forensic questions, utility questions, and historical questions. His photos once assisted in resolving a construction dispute.

Even in retirement, Dennis is keen on all areas of construction: the bigger the better. The purpose of this website is to open wide the contractor’s window so the public can appreciate the construction of the new children’s and adult hospitals. Enjoy and visit the site often to view the updates! dEp 09.30.2016
