The Last Few Pieces of the Puzzle– The Northeast Corner Where The Construction Trailers Are Located.
The image for this post is a view of the northeast corner of the construction site taken from the 16th-floor Terrace/Balcony. This area located on the southwest corner of Barton Road and Prospect Avenue is the last remaining section of the construction site to be worked on before completion. I have been informed by the contractor that mid-May (2021) is the planned date to begin removing the construction trailers. Once they are removed, work can begin on subgrade preparation, which includes excavation, compaction to grade, and an asphalt base layer, for the northeast parking lot and service road. Another crew will come in to set the forms for the curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Once this is completed the landscapers will come in to lay pipe, place timers, and set the trees and plants. Once the final asphalt surface is placed a crew will come in to stripe the parking lot and crosswalks.
It is interesting to note that in 2015 during the make-ready phase of the LLUCTP, heavy equipment moved onto the property of the Mary M apartments (built circa the mid 1950s), located on the southwest corner of Barton Road and Prospect Avenue, where the construction offices now stand and began demolishing the apartments. Now, nearly six years later, this is the last area of the puzzle to be completed. I guess the old accounting method of first in, last out can be used in theconstruction business.
