Helicopters and Other Flying Creatures Grab the Attention of the Construction Crew

After taking off from the LLU Children’s Hospital, the pilot headed north just east of the towers providing the patients and construction workers with a rare view of the helicopter as the pilot swooped just below the towers casting a theater-like shadow on the face of the building’s exterior walls.

The helicopters that land and take off from the south and north helipads have become attention getters to the construction crew.

On Thursday evening, the rains did come, and there were prayers that the floods wouldn’t come up.

A conundrum: In the afternoon on October 21, 2016, I was in the construction pit taking photos when this plane flew over just north of the Medical Center. It was not until I downloaded the photos that I discovered the plane was not only unmarked but was also carrying an extra
pod under the right wing.

Another shot of the unmarked plane as it headed west just to the north of Loma Linda University Medical Center.

One afternoon Santos met up with me as I was heading toward the pit. He held out this pipe with this Praying Mantis on the end and asked if I
wanted to take a picture.

One cloudy day, I had just arrived on site when this helicopter flew overhead toward the Children’s Hospital Helipad.

Approaching the north helipad.

Lifting off of the Children’s Hospital helipad.

The crane’s boom appears to be pointing to the helicopter as it Approaches the Children’s Hospital helipad (01.31.17).

A very large helicopter landed on the Children’s Hospital helipad, however, from the pit we were unable to get a good view of the big bird to
properly identify it.

I rushed to the top of one of the south hill drives overlooking the Medical Center just as the pilot started the engines to the Sikorsky S-76. In a
few minutes, I was able to snap a photo of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Emergency-Transport helicopter.

Another unexpected visitor, a U. S. Army Sikorsky HH-60 MEDEVAC Black Hawk helicopter, which generated a lot of  wind down on the ground.
