The Week of June 18, 2018 — The Podium is Beginning to Take Shape

A Top View of the Podium as Illustrated in the Model (Left) and the Actual Structure (Right)

Once the podium is complete, the top view will look close to the illustration to the left. The area shaded (from the north-south going east) is the section, which the iron workers are presently working on as of June 20, 2018. They are bringing floors up to the level as illustrated in the lower have of the illustration. The center square in the center will be the tallest tower, which houses the elevators and mechanical equipment. The smaller white rectangle (X3) is a one-story mechanical bay. The letters and numbers represented on the illustration to the left correspond to the numbers on the photo below.

GPR (why GPR? The reason escapes met) represents Skylights, which are positioned on either side of the solid roof.

Numbers 1 – 4 are the fifth-floor step-ins from which the towers will rise. The roof for the fifth floor serves as the floor for the sixth floor.

This photo was taken from webcam 1, which is stationed on top of the Medical Center. The letters and numbers correspond to the ones in the above illustration. The floor levels are designated 1-5. Once the decking is on and the concrete floors are poured, the outline of the towers will be more apparent as illustrated in the above illustration. In this view atrium (X1) is now visible. EMT represents Elevator and Mechanical Tower.
