Up the Lift and Down the Stairs — A Brief Look at All of the Floors
During the week of August 13, the south crane will not be working and the north crane will be setting single story box columns around the central elevators. Supposedly the north crane will start lifting columns on Thursday, August 16, and then it is my understanding that the south crane will boom up on Wednesday, August 22. And so, I thought it would be a good week to take the lift up to the sixth floor, and take a few photos then take the elevator back down to the fifth floor where I would begin my trek down–floor by floor–to the basement.
Sixth Floor and Above
Since the sixth through eighth floors have not been released by Schuff Steel, I am unable to wander around at will without a safety escort. I will have plenty of time to do that in the near future.

From the lift I could see that the excavators were still working on connecting electrical ducting that had been placed in the foundation wall.
Fifth Floor
At this juncture of the construction the Adult Hospital tower will step out toward the north, and the Children’s Hospital Tower will step in toward the north. Directly behind me is the large corridor that connects the two hospitals.
This artist rendering is for illustrative purposes only to show how the towers step in and step out at the podium. This illustration is 180° opposite from the preceding photo. The lighter half (west half) of the photo is the section where the columns rise to the ninth floor.
The photo at the left is another view of the fifth floor east atrium from the southeast corner of the Children’s Hospital. At the right is a view of the west atrium from the southeast area under the Children’s Hospital. Inorder for me to get to this spot, I had to maneuver my way across the corrugated metal decking.
I’m still traversing the corrugated metal decking on the fifth floor making my way east to the stairs. Left center is the eastern atrium and beyond the atrium is the corridor that connects the two hospitals.

the
Fourth Floor
Although, the fourth floor was clear for me walk on, I decided against it because rebar was in the process of being laid. Not much can happen, other than setting the inserts and laying the rebar, until the concrete is poured.

Facing northwest: Three quadrants on the third floor have had the concrete flooring poured. The south east quadrant most likely will be poured early Thursday morning.
Facing due west. With the lights up and on, and the concrete hose (center left) laid out, it does appear that the last quadrant will be poured on Thursday morning beginning around Three AM.
