Another Major Milestone Reached

[edsanimate_end]

By the end of the day on September 12, 2018, the steel frame of the Children’s Hospital was topped off at the tenth floor. There will be an approximate seven-foot windscreen installed around the perimeter, which will also be used to obscure the mechanical equipment on the roof. The featured photo depicts the completed steel sections (indicated by check marks) of the Loma Linda University Campus Transformation Project (the Loma Linda University Children’s and Adult Hospitals).

On the morning (7:55 AM) of September 13, 2018, an adjusted webcam photo clearly shows the Steel frame of the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital tower (left) after having reached its apex the previous afternoon.

The steel towers as seen from the east. This photo was taken from the safety fence along Anderson Street. Very soon, the Adult Hospital’s tower will no longer fit in the photo from this spot.

What would the steel structure for both hospitals look like prior to hanging the exterior curtain walls. The above photograph, which includes a little help from photoshop provides my interpretation of what the east elevation will look like as to size. The above is an illustrative rendition only, and portions are not to scale, and are subject to change.

The apex of the Children’s Hospital tower as viewed from the Parking Structure P4. Steel rising above this point will be for the Adult Hospital Tower.

Another view, from a slightly different angle, of the Children’s Hospital tower from the west end of Parking Structure P4. The columns for the Adult Hospital tower can be seen in the background.

The East Elevation at Sunset

And so as the sun sets on the work site at the end of week 121 (September 14, 2018), the steel tower of the Children’s Hospital stands at its apex overshadowing the existing Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.
