The Day God Highlighted Loma Linda and its Environs

Not often do we see rainbows in the sky around Southern California. It is even rarer when we see a full rainbow. When we do, we take notice. Today (January 31, 2019) was one of those days. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my trusty Canon 6D with me but, I did have my iPhone. Off I went to stake out a few spots before the color faded away. Of course, if at all possible, I wanted to get the Loma Linda University Campus Transformation Project (LLUCTP) in the photos. Two strikes were against me from the get go: traffic (the afternoon rush hour) and the sun (approximately 5:15; with clouds in the west), which was fading fast.

It wasn’t until I crested the Waterman bridge that it became apparent that there may be a chance to capture the rainbow shinning down on the new hospital structure. Getting such an image has been a fantasy since the groundbreaking.
Just south of the Waterman bridge, I could tell there was a great chance to place the new structures in the direct path of the rainbow.
Bingo: The south end of the rainbow aligned perfectly with the new hospital structure at the entrance to the University Mobile Home Estates on University Avenue.

What a spectacular way to end the first month of 2019!
