The Sealing Off of the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Grand Entrance

The once-grand entrance to the existing Children’s hospital has given way to a demolition crew.

The south view of the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital entrance. Over the years thousands of children and their families passed through those doors.
The Children’s Hospital entrance was still operational on September 30, 2015, while the make-ready crew was rerouting traffic in preparation for closing off the future construction site.
The plastic K-rail is gone rerouting the traffic. The canopy over the entrance to the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital still stood following the erection of the construction security fence.
This December 15, 2017, night image captured from the Parking Structure P4 shows the main entrance (center) sans the canopy and its supporting pillars and sidewalk. The popout entrance remains intact.
A great view of the Children’s Hospital entrance popout as
Well into 2018, the former Children’s Hospital entrance popout still stands (sans the doors).
The former entrance was covered with thick black tarp. From the pull-back, I could see dust escaping as workmen chipped away at the entry tile.
Being the curious type, I pulled back the tarp and stepped into the former Children’s Hospital entry way where a crew was pulling up the entry tile.
