The Week of January 20, 2020 — Concrete, Millwork, and Conduit

The first day of the workweek, Monday, January 20, 2020, began with cool temperatures and cloudy skies. There was a beehive of back bending activity in and around the Galleria site on the north side of the podium beneath the Adult Hospital tower. For the most part, there were approximately 21 labors giving attention to the first section that would be poured. There were carpenters, electricians, ironworkers, and one or two inspectors all working in a coordinated effort to get the section ready for the upcoming concrete pour. I learned that, pending final inspection, the first section of the Galleria could be poured by midweek. According to the plan, the pour would begin around 2:00 AM and continue until the first section was completed.

During the early morning hours of January 23, 2020, the first section of the Galleria was poured with concrete.
By the time I arrived on site the following day after the concrete pour, the forms had been removed and a small group was meeting on the new slab. To their right, a table was set up, on which the plans for the Galleria and Main Entrance Canopy were laid.
