A Visit to Central Sterile Supply Department Located on A-Level

The featured image for this post shows the open door that drew me to take a tour of the Central Sterile Supply room.

Making my way to the west tunnel on A-Level, I passed the door to the Central Sterile Supply room, which is located on the south-west side of the podium. The Supply room is very large, which encompasses approximately one-quarter of the A-Level space. As it had been some time since I had roamed the cavernous space, I decided to poke my head into the entrance located off of the north-south corridor. Wow, I wasn’t expecting to see electronic glass double doors. The gleaming stainless steel equipment beyond the doors beckoned me to “come on in”. And so I did. The following images represent what is in the Central Steril Supply room. Equipment installers are hard at work, but it was exciting to see drawings become a reality. Enjoy the tour.

Facing me as I walked through the double doors were two Cart Washers in the Soiled Work area. The open door in the center goes to the equipment room.
After the Carts move through the washers, they exit the doors into a clean cart area in a sterile supply section. On the other side of the wall on the left is a clean work area.
A closeup of the Cart Washer equipment room, which is positioned between the two washers.
To the right of the washers, we enter the soiled work area.
Against the southwest corner wall in the soiled work area, there is a Soiled Scope Processing Room. To the left of the door is an observation window.
Directly opposite the Soiled Scope Processing Room and across the soiled work area are two electronic doors. The double doors to the left are the ones that I entered from the main north-south corridor. The room with the door open with the lights off is a Housekeeping room. The electronic double doors to the north (at the top of the image) opens up to a narrow hallway.
The narrow east-west hallway that the electronic double doors located at the end of the hallway to the left are the employee access to the soiled work area. To the right is an employee lounge, employee restrooms, locker rooms, a workroom for vendors, a conference room, and space for two offices. In addition, there is a space for Biomed Scope repair.
As we move deeper into the room we move into the Clean Work area. To the left are a bank of automated disinfecting washers.
