The Week of November 8, 2020 — Rain, a Cool Down, Snow, Fall is in the Air and the Crew Presses on Toward the Finish Line.

As the project nears completion, it is time that we take a look at what will be the main entrance to the Dennis and Carol Troesh Medical Campus as viewed from Prospect Avenue. The crew working in this area are making significant progress and by weeks end, the curbing of the main entrance turnaround island will be complete and forming curbs and gutters in the short-term parking area just west of the main entrance should be complete. If the weather holds off, some concrete may be poured in that area. For more detailed information on the Main Entrance go to The Landscaping Phase.

The week begins with some much-needed rain: not a downpour, but enough to turn off the automatic sprinkler systems, and to dirty the old car. The rain brought cooler temperatures and snow to our local mountains. Rumor has it that the trees are changing colors in the little community of Forest Falls (approximate elevation: 5,700 ft), which is about a forty-five-minute drive from Loma Linda.

Despite the on and off rain, a Sunday crew was at the site. Most worked inside; however, the exterior sign installers were up on the suspended scaffold finishing hanging the Children’s Hospital sign just below the east elevation roofline The Exterior Architectural Signage Phase.

The Main Entrance Canopy is in the process of being completed, and much of the turnaround island has been completed. The large LOMA LINDA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER sign and logo are yet to be installed. In talking with the sign contractor, he said this phase will be a slow and tedious process as the installation can’t be done by helicopter.
