The Last Few Pieces of the Puzzle– The Northeast Corner Where The Construction Trailers Are Located.

The image for this post is a view of the northeast corner of the construction site taken from the 16th-floor Terrace/Balcony. This area located on the southwest corner of Barton Road and Prospect Avenue is the last remaining section of the construction site to be worked on before completion. I have been informed by the contractor that mid-May (2021) is the planned date to begin removing the construction trailers. Once they are removed, work can begin on subgrade preparation, which includes excavation, compaction to grade, and an asphalt base layer, for the northeast parking lot and service road. Another crew will come in to set the forms for the curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Once this is completed the landscapers will come in to lay pipe, place timers, and set the trees and plants. Once the final asphalt surface is placed a crew will come in to stripe the parking lot and crosswalks.

From this aerial view, which was taken in 2020. we can see at the lower left of the image where the final phase of the puzzle will begin. The grounds around the building are complete with the exception of this area.

It is interesting to note that in 2015 during the make-ready phase of the LLUCTP, heavy equipment moved onto the property of the Mary M apartments (built circa the mid 1950s), located on the southwest corner of Barton Road and Prospect Avenue, where the construction offices now stand and began demolishing the apartments. Now, nearly six years later, this is the last area of the puzzle to be completed. I guess the old accounting method of first in, last out can be used in theconstruction business.

First stage of the makeready work: Anderson Street and Prospect in 2015, just as the the Mary M apartments were being demolished.
The first phase of the makeready project: The empty lot (circa 2015) is where the Mary M apartments once stood. During the construction project, the construction trailers began to arrive on this section of the site on November 27, 2016, and are scheduled to be pulled off the site in mid-May 2021.
In a few weeks this area at the corner of Anderson Street and Prospect Avenue, located inside the construction security fence, will be moved off the property along with the construction trailers. This is part of the area. where the north parking lot access road will be located.
