June 2021 — Construction of the Northeast Parking Lot is Well Underway

The Third Week of June Special Feature: Placing a 22 Ton Rock Feature Between the East Parking Lot and the Northeast Parking Lot.

As the grading for the northeast parking lot continued, large boulders arrived on site and were strategically placed in various areas, per the architectural drawings, around the parking lot. These boulders were off loaded and placed using a front loader. The largest boulder was yet to come. A large boom crane arrived on site, which would off load a 22-ton boulder from a low bed and place the large landscape feature between the two parking lots.

The First Week of June – Reaching Subgrade, Utility Pipes, Compaction and Forming Curbs and Gutters

After the mobile construction, trailers were towed away, and the asphalt on which they were placed was ripped up and carted away, the heavy equipment began cutting into the ground. First, the crew will concentrate on the service/fire road. Once that is completed (including all of the underground utilities), the total hospital complex will be surrounded by the service/fire road. After the road is completed, a crew will begin work on the sidewalks, and the landscapers will begin adding trees, shrubs, and ground cover. At the same time, the electricians will install the parking lot lights along with the shrub and tree lights.

June 1 – 4, 2021 — Reaching Subgrade, Trenching For Underground Utilities, and Forming Curbs and Gutters

Reaching subgrade parallel to Prospect Avenue. The white line bisecting the image (center) indicates where a trench will be dug for electrical conduit.
With the electrical conduit laid in the trench the dirt is being backfilled.
Excavating a section of the east bank (parallel to Anderson Street) where concrete stairs and a ramp will be installed connecting the sidewalk along Anderson Street to the Northeast Parking Lot.
The excavator smoothes out the crown of the service road/fire lane.
In one month the main east side construction ramp was transformed into the road that T’s off of the Service Road/Fire Lane to the East Parking Lot.
