The Week of October 5, 2020 — Nightscapes of the Loma Linda University Medical Center and the Dennis and Carol Troesh Medical Campus Towers

Two images make up the featured photo for this post. The Loma Linda University Medical Center (lower right dated October 04, 2016) was captured at night. At that time the LLUCTP project was still in its infancy: The pit was still being excavated to reach subgrade on which the foundation would be poured. The photo at the left was taken on September 30, 2020, 3 years, 11 months, and 26 days (1457 days) after the upper left image was taken. The two towers on the Dennis and Carol Troesh Medical Campus, just east of the iconic cloverleaf towers, which are nearing completion, rise high above the Loma Linda University campus

Six Septembers (2015 – 2020)

The Evolution of the Dennis and Carol Troesh Medical Campus

The above strip illustrates the progression of the LLUCTP over a six-year period by taking a snapshot of the project during the month of September. Frame No. 1 represents the make-ready phase which began in 2015. No 2 shows the heavy equipment as the excavation continues to subgrade. Image No. 3 reveals shoring walls and the Base Isolators that are mounted to the foundation. In frame No. 4 the steel skeleton for the two towers rivals the cloverleaf towers of the Medical Center. Image No. 5 provides a view of the two towers from the southeast corner of the site. In this photo the external lift attached to the Adult Tower is visible. The last of the photos, No. 6 provides an early morning view of the east elevation as the project nears the end. The once visible cloverleaf towers of the Loma Linda University Medical Center are now hidden from view by the three towers that grace the Loma Linda University Health campus.

Paralleling the frontage road on the south of the parking lots, landscapers are in the process of laying sprinkler pipe and running wire for the control valves.
