The Week of January 1, 2019 — The Beginning of the End

The featured image for this post is a good example of: If I knew then, what I now know, I would had been more cognizant of what I wanted to accomplish with this compilation. But we have to live with my shortsightedness. The image consists of three images: (1-west end) the dirt phase (2016) of the pit. (2-looking east) the concreted/steel phase (2018) in the pit, and (3-east elevation) the steel frame (2019) rising out of the pit. I hope you get the idea!!

For many, the phrase “The beginning of the end” has connotations of an ominous event–such as failure, something bad, or something less desirable–that will occur in the future. In this case, the phrase has a positive meaning: Something hoped for, something looked forward to, something anticipated, ending in something good is about to happen. In this case, the completion of the Loma Linda University Children’s and Adult Hospital estimated to be around the end of 2019.

As we begin 2019, we must establish a baseline from which we can gauge the progress as the work continues on the project. The baseline for 2018 began in the pit. The baseline for 2019, starts with a steel frame that resembles the artist renderings of a completed project sans the GFRC exterior panels yet to be hung on the towers. As the GFRC panels go up, the build out of the interior will begin in earnest.

You are correct. They are moving up (starting with the northeast corner) the north side of the adult tower with glass panels. Sorry for the delay. I was out of the country for a couple of weeks.
