The Week of August 12, 2019 — More About the South Side Scaffolding, Leave Out Bay, the Pits, the Tunnel, and the Schuman Pavilion Pedestrian Bridge

This week, the scaffolding that had been taken down from the vertical leave-out bay bisecting the south side of the Children’s Hospital would be loaded on a flatbed and trucked away.

The leave-out bay is the center section of the Children’s Hospital tower, where the windows were left out, which allowed for the aerial lift to anchor to the side of the building. The left panel shows the aerial lift tower and the scaffolding connecting each of the floors. The right panel shows the leave-out bay sans the aerial lift and scaffolding. The crane in the photo is loading the last of the scaffolding onto the flatbed that had rolled in earlier in the morning.
