We have three great questions asked by Dennis S.
Question: When will they begin work on the Barton Road bridge that will connect Parking structure P4 to the existing Children’s Hospital?
Answer: It is my understanding that the architects have the plans. and will be sending them on to the city for approval after which they will be put out to bid. It could be that work will not begin until sometime in 2021.
Question: Is the Grand Connecting Hallway tall enough for a hook and ladder to go under?
Answer: It is my understanding that the Grand Connecting Hallway is temporary and will be redone sometime in the future.
Question: How do the moat covers work? I see they are being filled with concrete.
Answer: The moat covers are attached to the podium (building) and are not anchored to the foundation cap slab on the grade side of the moat. The moat covers, filled with concrete, are designed to move (slide) as the earth shifts. Should any of the moat covers get damaged during an earthquake event, they are designed to be replaced. Attached is an illustration that was posted October 2019.
