360-Degree Photos and Videos

Summer 2016 – 1v

The first tier of the south shoring wall is complete. Excavation continues in the center of the site where the pit will be. One of the make ready projects that must be completed is the excavation of the utility tunnel that runs north to south through the pit. The utility pipes that are in the tunnel will be temporarily located between the hospitals and the pit.

How it was done. This photo depicts how the 360fly photos taken on 01.03.17  from two balloons were taken.

A single frame converted panorama photo of the construction site of new Loma Linda University Adult and Children’s Hospitals. The photo was taken with a 360fly camera of the new Loma Linda University Hospitals construction site. This photo was taken, between storms, on 01.03.17.

01.03.17 – 3v

This is a 360fly camera video, which I took, on a dark and cloudy day on 01.03.17, from the construction pit. This is the first aerial video taken from two helium balloons, which were tethered to the small 360-degree camera. The camera was lifted to the approximate height of the south shoring wall. The purpose of the flight was to determine the stability of the camera when there was light to moderate winds above the shoring walls. There are a couple of times when the balloons were jostled about with short wind gusts, which tossed the camera from side to side. For all practical purposes, however, the test was a success in that I believe two balloons allowed the camera to rotate a slower rate thus allowing the viewer to get a better 360-degree view of the project and hospital campus. From this vantage point, one can see the amount of water that was collected in the elevator pits. According to one of the laborers, the center pit had collected a little over two feet of water over the holidays. The blue around the circumference of the construction site is the sky.

Sights and Sounds of the Loma Linda University Campus Transformation project (Vision2020), which was taken by a 360fly camera from a crane in the center of the construction pit. (02.15.17).

02.15.17 – 5s

An aerial view of the construction site taken from a crane on a day where the construction crew is trying to get as much accomplished before the blue skies turn dark and the forecasted rains slow progress. As can be seen, the foundation reinforcement stage is well underway.

02.15.17 – 6s

Another 360-view taken from the floor of the construction pit.

02.15.17 – 7s

A view of the construction pit taken with the 360fly camera just before it was hoisted by the crane high above the shoring walls. The crane, which is used to lift the rebar is at the upper left corner of the photo. The chronicler is standing by the rear tire and will control the camera with his iPhone. Note the shadow of the camera, which is the size of a baseball.

02.16.17 – 8s

A view of the construction pit from the west shoring wall.  The concrete pump is filling the southwest elevator pit with approximately 500 cubic feet of concrete.

April 14, 2017 – 9v

On April 14, 2017, crane operator John allowed me to snap the 360fly camera to the hook of the crane cable and he raised the camera high over the pit.

April 30, 2017 – 9v

On the morning of April 30, 2017, the pour on the second section of the foundation continued.

05.20.17 – 10v

A Friday morning (05.12.17) in the middle of the pit. Two foundation pads have now been poured with the third and last foundation pour scheduled for Saturday night May 20, 2017.
