The Week of January 14, 2019 — A New Crane, Rain, Air Handlers, More Rain, and Mud
Despite the rain, the Hill Crane Company rolled into the south yard off of Barton Road, parallel to the Children’s Hospital tower, a large crane (a Leibherr LTM 1400 – 7 .1 with a Fixed Jib Y-Guy Attachment), which would take several hours to erect. The crane on the north side would stand down during the week.
A New Crane Arrives
The crane along with the lattice boom lies in the yard as the erection crew attempts to work around the rain in mud. By nightfall on January 15, the large crane, with its long boom down was nicely silhouetted against the backdrop of the Children’s Hospital tower. Because it rains so little in Southern California, two more night shots were parenthetically added to illustrate that it does rain on occasion. Who owns an umbrella in Southern California?On Wednesday (January 16), two large HVAC units arrived on tractor trailers. Unfortunately, the drivers had to navigate the large mud puddles, which accumulated over the night and were clearly visible in the yard.Not long after the previous photo was taken, the crane began lifting the first air handler highlighted in the blue circle.
